Marie Laurencin was born in Paris on October 31, 1883, when she turned eighteen began studying porcelain painting, and later oil on canvas. she was known as one of the first female cubist painters(though it broke the mold of tradition cubist norms.)Her works included portaits of dismal woman in shades of greys, and blues. Other workds included a 1930 edition of Lewis Caroll's Alice in Wonderland, stage design for Les Biches (The Does in english) in which she met Coco Chanel and painted the portrait Mademosielle Coco pictured below.)Marie Laurencin died on June 8, 1956.
