Art: Music From A Tree

In the garden of Diego Stocco's house there is a tree with lots of randomly grown twigs. One day he asked myself if he could create a piece of music with it. To tune the tree he picked a fundamental note and tuned the twigs by trimming them with a pencil sharpener. He recorded the sounds utilizing a Pro Tools LE system, a customized stethoscope, two Røde NT6 and NTG-2 microphones. No synthesizers or sampler was used to create or modify the sounds in anyway; all sounds come from playing the tree, bowing the twigs, shaking the leaves and playing rhythms on the cortex. -- Diego Stocco is a sound designer and composer residing in California www.diegostocco.com
