YSL : Ain't Nothin' Like The Real Thing
Labels: fashion, film 0 comments"If you don't want to be nude, wear a suit". That was the title Bruce Weber wanted for the Yves Saint Laurent Autumn/Winter Homme 2010 short film. Regardless of the title, the film managed to combine the stylistic sensuality of Bruce Weber, the design aesthetic of Pilati, and often times, a resurgence of Warhol like qualities. (Think Lonesome Cowboy without the hay and horses.)

Fashion:Mend
Labels: fashion 0 commentsPierre Alexis Dumas once said, “Hermes is about quality manufacturing, it’s about strong and positive values, not superfluous values, we work with craftsmen.”—Four hundred to be exact. Each Hermes handbag is sewn stitch by stitch by one individual craftsman. Upon completion, your Birkin or Kelly is embossed with the Hermes logo, however do you know who really MADE your bag? This November, Invisible children are introducing Mend, a brand “designed to seam a personal connection between products, their creators, and you.” Unlike Hermes, every garment carries the name of the seamstress who made it. Sorry Jane Birkin, You may have had a bag made for you but it wasn’t made by you.

Fashion: Two and Three Finger Rings
Labels: accessories, fashion, jewelry, shopping 0 commentsVERAMEAT is Vera Balyura, a teller of winding tales in search of the extraordinary. Born in Ukraine, she recalls woodcarving with her grandfather, horseback riding in Utah & moving to New York to be a high fashion model all before the age of 14. Each design reflects a personal (yet universal) inspiration—from traveling the world, making music, maritime ny sagas, botanical structures of light, futuristic visions of rogue spacemen in beer, and before history. Each piece of VERAMEAT jewelry mirrors a self-sufficient life form with a sculptural presence. Hand-crafted in New York City from such fine materials as ecologically sound recycled silver, copper and pure 14-25k gold, VERAMEAT designs are artfully refined contemporary heirlooms.
VERAMEAT’s collection is characterized by richly articulate surfaces, wearability, and subtle details exacted with precision inherited from her grandmother, a surgeon. VERAMEAT is featured in a special selection of New York stores including Catbird, Plum, Operations, Lori McLean, Madewell, Old Hollywood in addition to the London-based Kabiri and CA based ReForm School and many more. The symbol is reflected in necklaces, bracelets and rings with the double-finger shovel ring highest in demand.
“She’s not sitting around waiting for things to happen,” Monteagudo said. “She’s out there making them happen.”
